It's Finished

Well.... It's all done!
Although originally conceived to grace the wall of my garage I could not resist taking it out for a spin. That one ride turned into two, then three and now I find myslelf wanting to take it out more often than not.
The ride is amazing and the comments from fellow riders has only confirmed that all the work i put into it has paid off.
There's not much more to say about the bike but if you do see me out on the roads just say "Hi".

I picked up the frame, forks & handlebars just yesterday from being detailed and all I can say is WOW!!!. They all look amazing and I cant wait for the clear coat to be done so it can all be assembled. The next posts should be a real treat.

I rode this saddle for a while on my SIX13 and I love how it looks mounted on the Thomson seat pillar so I need to get it redone in white leather. I suppose this makes it the before shot then???

Some goodies have arived in the post which I feel represent the modern side of classic> Thomson masterpiece lay back seat post and matching 2 bolt stem. These are glamorous items that funcion beyond their aprearance. not pictured is the matching Thomson top cap (of coarse).

Whist I'm waiting for the frame to return from being detailed I thought you should see the bike which caused my desire to build my bike this way.
Thank you to my dear friend Wolf at 'Pista Bikes' together with John who are doing some great things with street fixies, rejuvinated hard collection bikes and single speeds; just a new shop on Toorak rd, Melbourne 03 8866 1877. Call them or stop past to get sorted.

The wheels look fantastic I just love the simplicity.

The rims are Velocity 'Fusion" (aerohead) rims which I purchased as "Clean Extrusion" which meant there were no braking surfaces or colouring. These were taken to Electromould to be Nickle plated but after a brief discusion with the boys I followed their advice to polish them and then clear anodize them.....WOW.... the finish matches perfectly with the rest of the project. Very underrated and NOBODY knows what they are - it's great.

Dura - Ace high flange hubs laced 3X with Sapim C-Xray spokes. (note 14mm alloy nipples)

Frame filled and smoothed by the brilliant Mark at Paconi Racing Frames (there is nothing these guys cant do and do well).

I wanted to get a modern classic look that captured the esence of a true vintage track bike but with components that are respected to create a timeless & classy bike.

I hope it works out as I plan.......
